Tour around the 5 different countries in search for great recipe and fun making cornflake cookies, chicken dumplings, pancake, fritata and roti canai. Children of age 3-8 get to have their hands dirty kneading, measuring and pouring. Great pancake flipping contest and masala chai pulling contest!

About The Event

Food Around The World

11-15 April, 2022 

Let us go on a world tour of food in 5 different countries this holiday! Before you start on the first day please prepare,

1. A passport size photo. 

2. A backpack or travelling bag.

3. An apron if you have one. 

4. An adventurous spirit!

Day One - we shall submit photo to get our passport ready. While we wait for the passport to be ready, we take a drive to Atuk's house in Segamat to learn how to make cornflake cookies. It is almost Raya, this is a family tradition, making cornflake cookies. It is so easy even a toddler can make it. First, let us get to know the ingredients by a game of matching a label to each ingredient correctly. 

Day Two - it is time to collect our passport! We will discuss where in Asia we would like to visit and introduce the 7 continents of the world. Where is Malaysia? Where is China? Does anyone remember the traditional food Chinese people have during the lunar new year? Yes! Dumplings. We will get our hands dirty making chicken dumplings. What are the ways we can cook? Boil? Steam? Fry? Bake? 

Day Three - We shall bring our travelling bags and passport and head to the far away land of America where pancakes were made famous. Let's have a pan cake flipping contest in the garden to see who can flip pancake the highest and catch it in the pan again. We will explore how baking soda fizzes and how does it make our pancake light and fluffy. Where is America on our world map? Let's pin the 'Merica!

Day Four - Bye bye America. Ciao Italia! We shall discover how to bake Fritata in a muffin tin, explore what other food is Italy famed for and how did noodles got introduced to Italy. Is it really from China or is it just a myth? Children will have a fabulous time cracking eggs into mixing bowls and throwing handfuls of their favorite Fritata ingredients in. 

Day Five - it is almost the end of our world tour and we shall stop by India on our way home, We shall get our hands busy kneading and kneading, mixing and mixing... dough to make Roti Canai or Paratha. While we wait for the dough to be ready, we shall head out to the garden and have a masala chai pulling contest to see how much is left in the cup after pulling it. Maybe it is better to substitute water for chai... but a contest we shall have! We shall learn about the different spices India produces and make a game of guessing the spice through smelling and tasting blind test. 

Alas, we have come to the end of our tour and had our fill of making and eating food from around the world. We hope to see you again in our next holiday!
